By Greg Perkins The Holbrook Lady Roadrunners went 1-3 in four games played at the ninth annual Krystin Diehl Softball Tournament held last Friday and Saturday in Maricopa. Friday saw the Lady Birds pick up their only win of the tournament with an 8-6 victory sandwiched between losses to La Joya and Page. Holbrook played just once on Saturday and suffered an 11-0 shutout loss to the host school Maricopa. In the 9-5 loss to La Joya, the Roadrunners gave up nine runs on 11 hits, with two errors. At the plate, Holbrook was led by Kallee Reidhead, who went 2 for 3 and scored twice. In their win over Higley, the Roadrunners gave up the six runs on six hits and cleaned up their defense, making no errors. Kendra Monroe led at the plate with three hits and scored once. Friday’s nightcap resulted in a 9-7 loss to Page. Holbrook allowed the nine runs on 10 hits and made just one error. In the circle, Destany Begay notched five strikeouts. The team was led at the plate by Reidhead and Canela Queriuga, with both collecting two hits. The Roadrunners struggled in the field in Saturday’s loss to Maricopa. They allowed only four hits, but made six errors. Izzy Jaquez finished with four strikeouts and walked just two. Holbrook had just four hits in the game. The Roadrunners were supposed to have a second game on Saturday, but their opponent failed to show up, leaving them with just the four games. Now sitting at 2-4 on the season, but still 1-1 in power point contests, Holbrook will have three regular season games this week. After playing at Snowflake on Tuesday, the Roadrunners will host St. Johns on Friday, March 11, and welcome in Kingman Academy on Saturday, March 12. On Tuesday, March 15, they will play at Winslow.
