By Sam Conner The Flagstaff Eagles defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 10-4 in a March 1 game that went an extra inning. Winslow got excellent pitching from Matt Ramos, who worked the first seven innings, giving up four runs on 11 hits and three walks. He did not figure in the decision, as the loss went to Junior Villanueva, who gave up six runs, only one of which was earned, on four hits and a walk. The Bulldogs took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on four hits and a walk. The big hit was a three-run homer by C. J. Chacon. Kuster Kinlecheenie walked to start the inning and Nathan Hollins singled. Matt Bollin singled in the first run before Chacon hit his home run. Rey Chavez-Velez singled, but was left on base. Flagstaff cut into the margin with a run in the top of the third inning and another in the top of the fourth. Singles by Logan Guerrero, Brennan Brogni and Avery Wilson produced the third inning run, and a double by Shane Kuzmin and a ground out did the damage in the fourth. Doubles by Brogni and Wilson cut the Winslow lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning. A single by Ramos and two walks gave the Bulldogs a scoring opportunity in the bottom of the seventh, but they failed to score. The Eagles won the game in the top of the eighth inning when Guerrero was hit by the pitch, Brogni walked, Wilson reached on an error, and Drew Healy, Josh Morrow, Kuzmin and Evan Wissen all singled. Only one of the six runs was earned. The Bulldogs were slated to host Northland Prep on Monday and Washington on Tuesday. They will play Cactus on Thursday, March 10, in Phoenix, and will host Blue Ridge on Monday, March 14, and Holbrook on Tuesday, March 15.
