By Greg Perkins The Snowflake Lobos won their sixteenth consecutive game with a come from behind victory over Winslow in the sectional championship game played last Saturday night in Chinle. They now head to the state tournament as the defending champions and the second overall seed in the bracket. Following a first round bye they will face either No. 15 Moon Valley or No. 18 Cholla Magnet on Friday night, Feb. 19, at a site yet to be determined. If the Lobos can keep their winning streak intact for two more games, they would see the eventual winner between No. 7 Casa Grande, No. 23 Prescott, and/or No. 10 North in the quarterfinal round next week. The Lobos had a close call in the sectional semi-final game last Friday night, surviving a scare from Tuba City before holding off the Warriors 53-51 to advance to the title game. In the championship game vs. Winslow they built a seven-point lead through the first eight minutes, but saw the tables flip on them in the second. The Bulldogs outscored Snowflake 21-7 in the second quarter and led by seven at the break. The Lobos trimmed all but one point off that lead in the third, then pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Bulldogs by 10 to win the North Sectional title 66-57.
