By Sam Conner The Winslow Lady Bulldogs picked up two important wins on Wednesday and Friday of last week in their effort to win a berth in the playoffs. The Bulldogs thoroughly dominated the Higley Lady Knights last Wednesday in Gilbert, winning the contest 55-12. They led 23-0 after the first period, 38-7 at the half and 54-9 after three quarters. Winslow’s Justine Butterfield led all scorers with 13 points. Jenna Yazzie added 12 for the Bulldogs. Higley had no player with more than 4 points. On Friday, the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Window Rock Lady Scouts 58-43. The win improved Winslow’s record to 11-15 for the season and may well help them earn a berth in the postseason playoffs. Window Rock’s record dropped to a still very impressive 19-8. Winslow dominated in the first quarter and sped to a 21-6 lead. The second quarter was very evenly played and low scoring, with the Bulldogs taking a 29-13 lead into the locker room at the half. The third quarter was also evenly played and ended with the Bulldogs leading 41-24. Window Rock cut the lead to 10 points early in the final period, but Winslow pushed it back up to ensure the victory. Danielle James led all scorers with 23 points for Winslow. Adrianna Singer added 18 points for the Bulldogs and Butterfield scored 9. D’Ovionn Wagner was Window Rock’s top scorer with 10 points. . The Lady Bulldogs were slated for a rematch with the Lady Warriors on Monday in Tuba City, and traveled to Many Farms on Tuesday to meet the Lady Lobos.
