Bordner book signing By Linda Kor Winslow Junior High School will host a book signing with Mark Bordner, author of The Mighty First series from 5 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the school library. Bordner, who lives in Winslow, will be signing copies of his newly released fourth book of the series The Mighty First, Episode 4: Minerva Rising. As in previous books in the series, Minerva Rising features teens from Holbrook and Winslow who enlist in the Global Marines in an effort to liberate Earth from alien occupation. Paramount Pictures has secured a two-year option for movie rights for the pilot episode. Bordner offer roles in his book to fans in periodic casting calls, where winners have their names used as characters in the books, making interest in the series more personal. Several local teens and adults, including Winslow Police Chief Steve Garnett, have already been cast, and appear in episodes 3 and 4. “Doing this is my effort to cast our towns and citizens in a fun and positive light, hopefully bringing increased public interest in an area that I love so much,” said Bordner.
