Marijuana valued at more than $1 million was confiscated by the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office last week following a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Holbrook. A Traffic Enforcement deputy conducted the traffic stop near milepost 286 on I-40. After speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the deputy realized his travel plans did not make any sense and he suspected that the suspect might be involved in criminal activity. The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle and the driver refused consent. A drug detection canine immediately alerted to the vehicle. Upon opening the tailgate of the truck, the deputy located approximately 212 pounds of high grade marijuana valued at $1.2 million concealed in the bed of the vehicle. The driver, 38-year-old Vincent Hoang, was booked into the Navajo County Jail on a charge of transportation of marijuana. His bond was set at $500,000.
