By Greg Perkins The Roadrunners tasted their first defeat of the season Monday night when Prescott handed them a 73-58 home court loss. Holbrook struggled to score through the first eight minutes, then spent the rest of the night playing catch up. The Birds trailed by just five at the half, but the visiting Badgers extended that margin to 12, thanks to a 24-point third period performance. Holbrook was again outscored in the fourth, giving up another 20 points to the visitors. The Roadrunners have been on fire lately from three-point range and did in fact make another nine treys in this game, but Prescott’s Logan Smith connected on five three-pointers of his own to keep them at bay. The Roadrunners led in scoring by Abrian Dickson with another 20-point performance. Miireux Begaii and Benson Davis each contributed 11. Elliot Pete added 10, while Lansias Morris and Nathan Johnson finished with 3 each. Holbrook made five of 10 free throws in the loss. Smith led the Badgers’ offense with a game high 26 points. Tyler Bell and Matt Mandibles each netted 13. Prescott hit five three-point shots and went 12 for 13 at the charity line. With the loss the Roadrunners dropped to 12-1 on the season. They will play in the White Mountain Holiday Classic on Thursday, Dec. 31, with games against Florence at 11 a.m. and St. Joseph of California at 6:30 p.m. The tournament continues on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 1 and 2. They will return to regular season play on Saturday, Jan. 9, with a rematch with the Badgers in Prescott.
