The Lady Lobos closed out the regular volleyball season in fine form, defeating both Ganado and Holbrook in three straight games. Snowflake took care of the Lady Hornets last Tuesday, then easily handled Holbrook in the regular season finale on Thursday.
Snowflake enters the 32-team Division III state bracket as the seventh overall seed. The Lobos will face 26th seeded Barry Goldwater at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Prescott Valley events center. With a win they would advance to meet either No. 23 Casa Grande or No. 10 Desert Edge on Friday, Nov. 6. In order for the Lobos to get past round three, they will most likely have to upset second seeded Chandler Prep on Friday evening if both teams make it that far. Horizon Honors, ranked No. 3 overall, is also on the Lobos’ side of the bracket.
Snowflake finished the regular season with a record of 16-1, and is heading into the state tournament riding a 10-match winning streak. The Lobos haven’t lost a regular season match since Sept. 22, when they fell to Cactus.
