Joseph City won both volleyball matches played last week, defeating San Carlos at home and Cibecue on the road, both 3-0. The Lady Wildcats will need to repeat that effort in their five remaining matches over the next two weeks to have a chance to qualify for the Division V state tournament. With just 16 teams making the final bracket in their division, the Cats may need all five wins to make it. Joseph City entered this week ranked 24th, and must move up eight positions in the final two weeks.

After playing at Ray on Tuesday, the Cats will host Miami on Thursday, Oct. 22, then travel to Piñon on Saturday, Oct. 24. In the final week of the regular season they host Piñon on Tuesday, Oct. 27, then wrap things up on Thursday, Oct. 29, against Alchesay in Whiteriver. The good news for the Wildcats is that Ray, Miami and Alchesay are all ranked below them in power points. They will, however, have to upset Piñon twice, and the Lady Eagles were unbeaten and ranked second entering this week’s action.
