A benefit dinner and auction will be held for Joseph City resident Yarrow Peters at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the old elementary school gym on Westover Drive in Joseph City. Peters was recently diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer complicated by Crohn’s Disease. She is a 2014 graduate of Joseph City High School and was enrolled in her second year of college when she fell ill a couple of months ago.

The dinner includes chicken soft tacos, rice and beans for $8, with homemade salsa and chips for an extra $2. There will also be a bake sale and live auction. All proceeds will go to assist Peters with her treatment. An account has also been opened at Wells Fargo Bank for anyone wanting to contribute funds to her care. The account is under Yarrow Peters No. 6099068741.
