Families won’t want to miss the fun on Saturday, June 13, at Holbrook’s Route 66 Festival, It Ain’t Your Mother’s Road event at Gillespie Park.

Kids ages 2 to 16 are invited to enter into the box car races, and the entire family is invited to take part in the potato car race, take a shot at the dunk tank, try their luck at the Tailgate Toss Competition, sing in the Karaoke competition and have some free hot dogs.

There will also be the challenge of the Get Your Pics scavenger hunt, featuring little-known symbols along Holbrook’s stretch of Route 66, with the names of the winners to be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Parents are encouraged to have their children create their box car at home to bring to races, but limited supplies will be available at the event. Prizes such as movie tickets and treat giveaways will be awarded. The races begin at 1 p.m.

Both kids and adults are welcome to bring their own homemade potato racer to compete, but there will also be supplies to make one at the event. There will be adult and child categories, with the winners of the potato race to received the coveted Mr. Potato Head prize.
