The Arizona Game and Fish Department is asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for the illegal killing of a pronghorn antelope doe that was likely left to waste on Sunday, May 10. The antelope was found in the Sierra Pines residential area in Show Low. The backstraps were taken and the rest of the meat was left to waste. The doe showed signs of lactation, so it is likely that the killing of this doe orphaned a fawn that is too young to survive on its own. “The poacher left this animal to waste, and we need assistance from the public to find the individual(s) responsible,” says Shawn Wagner, wildlife manager for the department. “This isn’t the action of a hunter; it’s an act of a criminal stealing wildlife resources from the people of Arizona.” Anyone with information about this case can call the department’s Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-352-0700 or go online to www.azgfd.gov/thief and refer to case No. 15-001192. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $500 in this case. All calls may remain confidential upon request.
