Even with two expected wins over Rock Point on Wednesday, the Wildcats of Joseph City will not have enough power points to qualify for post-season play and will end their season on Monday, April 27, at home when they host St. Johns.

In their last outing, the Wildcats fell to Round Valley 16-2 on April 16. The Elks posted five runs in each of the first three innings, building a comfortable lead. Joseph City scored once in the second and again in the fourth, but dropped its eighth regular season game of the season against just six wins prior to Wednesday’s doubleheader with Rock Point.

In the Round Valley game Jesse Hulsey went 0 for 1, but earned a walk and later scored a run. Bryndon Buckley was 0 for 3, collecting one RBI. Sam Johnstun went 2 for 2. Cody Runyan was 1 for 2, scoring the second run for the Cats. Troy Poudrier went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Buckley earned the start on the mound and worked one inning, facing eight Elk batters. He gave up five runs on four hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts. Runyan pitched a third of an inning, facing five batters. He gave up four runs, three earned, with four walks and a strikeout. Jack Wilbanks worked 22/3 innings against 18 batters. He allowed seven runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

The Wildcats entered their final three games with an overall mark of 9-11.
