Hosting Show Low last Friday, the Roadrunners matched the Cougars in hits and had fewer errors, but still came out on the short end of an 11-6 final outcome.
Holbrook took the early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first only to see Show Low double that output and take the lead for good with four runs in the top of the second. The Roadrunners closed the game to 4-3 after three innings, then fell further behind when the Cougars again put together a four-run inning in the fourth frame to lead 8-3. Holbrook managed single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, but it wasn’t enough to catch the visitors.
The Roadrunners finished with six runs on eight hits, made only three errors and left nine runners on base. Show Low scored 11 runs, also on 8 hits, made five errors and left seven stranded.
