The Tribune-News will be presenting a Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual who, through the course of his or her lifetime, has made a considerable contribution to the City of Holbrook through efforts as a volunteer, innovator or leader in the community.
A committee consisting of The Tribune-News staff and a representative from both the city and the chamber will select one recipient each year from the applications of individuals nominated by the public.
To nominate an individual for consideration, pick up a nomination form at The Tribune-News office or go online to www.azjournal.com. The application can then either be mailed or brought to the office at 200 E. Hopi Drive, Holbrook, Ariz. 86025.
Those who have been nominated will not need to be nominated again in subsequent years, as all applications will be kept on file to be considered for the following year. The Tribune-News will be working with the Navajo County Historical Society to verify the information provided for each individual who is considered.
The person selected will be honored with a presentation by the mayor during a city council meeting in which a picture plaque containing the name, year of the award and a short biography of that individual will be hung on a designated wall in the city council chambers. Another award will be presented during Wild West Days in July for the recipient to keep. In addition, a photograph and full-length feature story will be published in The Tribune-News.
There will also be two posthumous awards presented each year honoring those individuals who are no longer living but are deserving of the award.
Applications for either living or posthumous nominees can be submitted at any time, but to be considered for this first award, must be received by May 1. For more information contact The Tribune-News office at (928) 524-6203.
