By Sam Conner The Winslow Bulldogs picked up wins over the Alchesay Falcons and the Tuba City Warriors last week. Winslow had to struggle and come from behind for the 71-65 victory over Alchesay last Thursday. The Falcons started very strong and had a 20-10 lead after the first quarter of play. The margin was a still substantial 36-27 Falcon lead at the half. The Bulldogs cut the margin to 50-45 by the end of the third quarter and moved ahead in the final period. Trelonnie Sanders led all scorers with 27 points for the Bulldogs and scored 11 of them in the final period. Dalvin Benally was also in double figures for Winslow with 14 points, 9 of them in the fourth quarter. Tylon Yazzie added 10 points and Akkeem Foster tallied 9 for the Bulldogs. Alchesay had four players in double figures, led by Rashaan Stover with 19 points. Blake Lupe scored 15 for the Falcons, and Sace Velasquez and DeMarco Slick each scored 11. The Bulldogs led the entire game in the 55-38 win over the Tuba Warriors last Saturday to improve their record to 13-3 and drop Tuba City to a still very impressive 14-3 with two of those losses to the Bulldogs, the other by a single point in a tournament game. The Bulldogs led 20-16 after the first quarter, 30-25 at the half and 42-36 after three quarters. A 13-2 fourth period advantage accounted for most of the final margin. Foster was the only Bulldog in double figures with 13 points and Davean Yazzie led the Warriors with 14 points. The Winslow freshman boys defeated Tuba City 47-32, but the junior varsity was edged 41-40.
