Snowflake’s Lady Lobos entered the new year with a .500 record and through the first week of January they kept that mark intact, earning a split in their first two games back after the break.
The Lobos hosted Holbrook on Tuesday. Neither team played up to their usual standards and Holbrook left for home with the 47-34 win. Both teams struggled throughout the contest, but the Lady Roadrunners managed to gradually outscore Snowflake in each period to secure the win.
Snowflake was led by Tycee Coplan, who took over the scoring duties for Marisa Godfrey, who was the focus of Holbrook’s defense. Coplan finished the game with 13 points. Tori Flake added 11; Kadi Johnson, 6 with 13 rebounds; and Audrey Livingston and Godfrey, 2 each.
Hosting Sedona Red Rock on Thursday, Godfrey quickly made up for Tuesday by nailing six three-point shots to lead the team with 23 points in a 47-29 win for the home team.
Snowflake led by just seven points going into the fourth, but outscored the Lady Scorpions 20-8 in the final period. Along with Godfrey’s 28, Melissa Eich scored 9; Flake, 6; Livingston, 4; Johnson, 3; and Coplan, 2.
With the split the Lobos moved to 8-8 on the season. After hosting Show Low on Tuesday, they will play at Alchesay on Thursday, Jan. 15, then travel to Monument Valley on Saturday, Jan. 17. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, they face Alchesay again, only this time it will be in Snowflake.
