The Winslow High School Bulldog and Lady Bulldog basketball teams scrimmaged Tuba City and Northland Preparatory Academy teams last Thursday at Don Petranovich Gymnasium.
They played three eight-minute quarters against the Tuba City Warriors and Lady Warriors, and the Northland Prep Spartans and Lady Spartans. The Tuba City and Northland Prep teams also scrimmaged each other.
There was a fairly large crowd of spectators at the gym on Thursday, and the games were refereed by a number of officials also getting in shape for the coming season.
Both WHS teams were slated to open their regular seasons in Page on Tuesday, and will play at Window Rock on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The Lady Bulldogs will participate in the Gallup Invitational Tournament scheduled Dec. 4-6. They are scheduled to play Kirtland Central in their first game at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. The rest of their games will depend upon outcomes of that and other games. Their first appearance in Winslow will be on Tuesday, Dec. 9, against Holbrook.
That may also be the Bulldogs first home appearance after trips to Page and Window Rock, although there was still a possibility at press time of a tournament in Winslow while the girls are in Gallup.
