By Greg Perkins Playing in Winslow on Tuesday afternoon, the Holbrook Roadrunners had a rough outing, falling to the Bulldogs 12-1 in five innings. The Bulldogs moved out in front with two first inning runs. They tacked on four more in both the second and third frames, then finished off their scoring with two additional runs in the bottom of the fourth. Holbrook struggled with Winslow’s pitching, collecting just four hits in the game, and didn’t score until the top of the fifth. Nick Robinson earned half of those hits, going two for two with a double. He also had the team’s only RBI, walked once and stole one base. Lanny Newton-Pender went one for two and stole one base. Nikko Ferniza was zero for two, but walked and scored Holbrook’s only run. Julian Garcia was one for two with a walk and stole one base. On the hill Carlos Quintana took the loss, facing 22 Bulldog batters in three innings of work. He allowed 10 runs, only four earned, on 10 hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Newton-Pender pitched the final inning, facing seven batters. He gave up two runs, both earned, on two hits with a strikeout and a walk. With the loss, the Roadrunners have a mark of 1-5-1 and are 1-3 in power point contests. They will host Snowflake this afternoon (March 14), then travel to Eagar on Monday, March 17, to play Round Valley. On Friday, March 21, they will travel to Window Rock to take on the Scouts.
