An elderly Navajo man, Charley Billy, sits outside his home, which recently received renovations through Yee Ha'ólníi Doo's 'Owner-Occupied Housing Health and Safety' initiative. The improvements include a newly built access ramp and a new roof. Previously, the homeowner struggled with unsafe steps and lacked a handrail, leading to a fall last year, and relied on neighbor assistance for roof repairs. The initiative is funded by the Arizona Department of Housing, providing critical support to vulnerable households in Northern Arizona.

Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies went above and beyond their call of duty, not for a person, but for a wounded soul with feathers. An injured owl was found near the Navajo County Government Complex, clearly in need of help. Through a relay of kindness, the owl was safely transported from Holbrook to Show Low, where it is now in the hands of experts at the Wild at Heart Raptor. There, it will receive medical attention and, with any luck, make a full recovery and return to the wild skies where it belongs.
