By Brad Click Trapper Days Chairman New additions to the Veterans Memorial celebration in Taylor this year, also known as Trapper Days, include the beard growing contest. Several people have committed to enter and interest is growing. First place will pay $100, with second place paying out $50 and third place, $25. The competition will be at 1:30 p.m. on the Saturday, May 25, schedule of events at Rodeo Park in Taylor. Also coming this year is the American Racing Car Show, NADCAR greats like Phillips Racing and Henesey Racing, with woman superstar Helen Henesey and her daughter Heather. The local racers will also be represented. Neff Racing with their quarter-mile super fast dragsters and Mustang will be on display, along with the Black Diamond Racing team. The veteran’s program will begin at 10 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center on West Willow. The weather has beaten us up several times and the move indoors is needed. We are grateful for the use of these church facilities while honoring those veterans who served our country. Other events scheduled for the Saturday venue are the Pit Bull Weight Pulls and shows, and a horseshoe tournament. Returning again this year is the Bucket of Blood re-enactment crew with their historically portrayed gunfight. A great evening will top off a great day with the Taylor Country Music Show and dance at the LDS Stake Center on West Willow. Doors will open at 6 p.m., the show begins at 6:30 and the cost is $5. We welcome everyone to come and see why Taylor is such a patriotic community where tradition never dies.
