The Taylor/Shumway Heritage Foundation has a new display honoring Brown and Ella Capps. The Capps moved to Taylor in 1947, and made considerable impact on the community as they shared their musical talents for programs and dances. Brown was the elementary school principal and Ella was a classroom teacher. They later taught in Heber and were much appreciated there, as well. A white satin quilt made in 1957 in honor of the Heber eighth grade graduates is part of the display. Paintings of the Capps and the graduates adorn the quilt. The Taylor Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. If those hours do not meet your schedule, please call to make an appointment. You can also schedule tours of the Pioneer Museum, the Margaret McCleve Hancock Log Cabin, the Standifird Home and the Shumway Schoolhouse. During the Independence Day celebration on Saturday, June 30, all sites will be open from 1 to 3 p.m., with the Taylor Museum staying open until 4 p.m. On Monday, July 2, the Heritage Hayride Jamboree will start at 5:30 p.m. with the hayride, free chili beans and cornbread, and musical entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend.
