This weekend offers a fantastic way to finish up the summer with the Standin’ On The Corner Festival in Winslow, which celebrates the Eagles’ hit “Take It Easy.”

The good times begin this afternoon (Sept. 23) at the Eagles Pavilion located at Second Street and Campbell, and will continue on through Saturday with a full schedule of events, vendors, crafts, fun for the kids, a beer wagon and official Standin’ On The Corner merchandise.

At 1 p.m., the music kicks in with Lahry Sibley, performing southern/country gospel music until 2 p.m. From 2 to 5 p.m., the Tommy Dukes Band, a member of the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame, will be performing, followed by Northern Latino Express from 5 to 8 p.m. Headlining the evening is the New Mexico rhythm and blues band Plateros, playing from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Closing out the evening will be the Hard Knox Band performing country rock from 10:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.

On Saturday, the day starts off with an introduction and opening prayer at 9 a.m., followed by the Winslow Stars National Dance Team, which will entertain the audience from 9 to 10 a.m. The Flagstaff Light Opera Company will be performing from 10 until 11 a.m., followed by an amateur talent show from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a sound check by Hotel California from 1 to 1:30 p.m. An auction will be taking place from 1:30 to 4 p.m., with Winslow’s finest gospel singers, Sounds of Faith, performing from 4 to 6 p.m.

A Boy Named Sioux takes the stage from 6:30 until 9 p.m., followed by Eagles cover band and event favorite Hotel California from 9 to 10:30 p.m. The final performance of the evening will be from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. as another entertainment favorite, Mogollon, brings rockin’ country sounds to the stage.

Though the event is free, donations will be accepted to help support the Standin’ On The Corner Park Foundation.
