The patriotism of Winslow residents was apparent on April 16, 1918, when a Liberty Bond parade was staged to raise money for World War I. The effort involved nearly the entire population and netted nearly $21,000 in war bond sales. The old Methodist Church can be seen in the background, and Babbitt Mercantile employees were standing in the intersection of Berry and Third Street.
