The Navajo County University of Arizona Cooperative Extension is again challenging Navajo County residents to get moving by joining people across Arizona in the Walk Across Arizona program for the third year in a row. Walk Across Arizona challenges youth, families and individuals to start walking to promote healthy active living. Walking reduces risks for diabetes, heart disease, obesity and chronic health problems. Walk Across Arizona is a fun way to get motivated to stay healthy by walking.
The Walk Across Arizona program is a friendly competition that tracks the number of miles walked in Navajo County. The Walk Across Arizona Campaign will begin on Monday, April 4. This eight-week program is designed for teams of up to 10 people. The miles are logged by team captains and recorded in the Walk Across Arizona website. Each participant will receive a pedometer and be eligible for a prize drawing.
This year, we are encouraging the team captains to enter their team members’ mileage online, and their participant team members to complete their final wrap up forms online to be eligible for the Walking Stick prize at the end of the program.
