Homolovi II Ancestral Hopi Pueblo Tour & Petroglyphs

Saturday, October 3 · 8:30 am – Oct 3 · 6:00 pm

Winslow, AZ. Saturdays, October 3rd and October 24th at 8:30 AM. Join a ranger-led hike at Homolovi II, the largest ancestral Hopi pueblo in the Homolovi cluster, with over 1,000 estimated rooms and 47 kivas. First recorded by Smithsonian archaeologist Jesse Walter Fewkes in 1896. The tour includes views of five domestic rooms, a reconstructed ceremonial structure (kiva), and artifacts along the pathways. The petroglyphs are located below the mesa. The hike is 1.75 miles and loops from the Homolovi II parking area. Petroglyph access involves rough, steep slopes with loose fill and gravelly surfaces. Wear closed-toe shoes or boots. Dress for cool weather and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Park entrance fee required.
