The Wildcats hit the court three times last week, sandwiching a pair of wins around one loss bringing their overall record to 5-2 early on in the season.

On Monday they played host to Music Mountain in a 78-47 homecourt win. Fifty first half points paved the way to a comfortable lead. Through the first three quarters the Cats lead 73-38. The Warriors won the final quarter, but the outcome was decided much earlier.

Eli James continued with his stellar early season play. He finished with 25 points. Cort Miller added 14; Jaimen Tsosie, 11; Trenton Deets, 11; Kase Fish, 7; Heston Miller, 7; and Jaxon Arnell added 3.

The following night at Northland Prep things didn’t go quite as well. The Spartans handed the Wildcats a 69-62 road loss. The Cats scored well again in the first half with 43 points at the break. The third quarter was the problem with only a 7-point output, which put them in a hole.

James did his job with 20 points. Cort Miller added 16; Tsosie, 15; Deets, 5; Heston Miller, 4; and Kase Fish added 2 in the loss.

Hosting St. Johns on Friday night, the Cats bounced back with a 20-point win over the visiting Redskins who had just knocked off Holbrook in overtime two days before this meeting.

Joseph City led 17-9 after the first and extended that margin to 41-23 at the break. The lead grew to 60-32 after three quarters before St. Johns trimmed nine points off the margin in the fourth.

James had a big night netting 32 points. Cort Miller added 15; Tsosie, 9; Heston Miller, 4; Arnell, 3; Deets, 2; and Anakin Hutchens helped with 2.

This week the Wildcats will travel to Mogollon on Tuesday, then will participate in the Round Valley Tournament beginning with pool play games vs Alchesay, and Monument Valley on Thursday. Their first bracket game will be against Round Valley on Friday at 12 noon.
