At 11:06 a.m. on Monday, May 12, a two-vehicle fatality collision occurred on State Route 377 near Holbrook. According to the Department of Public Safety, a passenger vehicle was traveling southbound when the driver attempted to pass a vehicle in front of it without sufficient room. The driver of that vehicle drove onto the northbound shoulder and back into the northbound lane, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles.

The driver and rear passenger of the third vehicle, a Hyundai Palisades, were deceased on scene. The deceased victims are Ricci Parsons, 72, of Fountains Hills and a 15-year-old girl from Brandon, S.D.

The at fault driver is Carlos Gonzalez, 30, of El Paso, Texas. The Navajo County Attorney is reviewing the case for possible charges.
