Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend Northland Pioneer College’s graduation ceremony, and it was one of those events that leaves you feeling hopeful. You could see the pride in every handshake, every smile, every name called out over the loudspeaker. Families packed the seats with handmade signs and phone cameras at the ready, and graduates crossed the stage knowing they’d reached an important milestone, not just for themselves, but for everyone who helped them get there.

Graduation season is officially in full swing, and it’s not just college students who deserve a round of applause. High school seniors are finishing their final tests and walking into adulthood, eighth graders are moving up to high school, and kindergarteners are graduating with oversized caps and big dreams. At every level, graduation marks growth, effort, and the promise of what’s next.

These ceremonies matter. They remind us what’s possible when people keep showing up, keep working hard and keep believing in themselves, even when it’s not easy. Whether you’re the first in your family to graduate or part of a long tradition, this is your moment. And for all the parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors, and friends who supported these students along the way—this is your moment, too.

To all the graduates across Navajo County and beyond: Congratulations. You’ve done something big. And we can’t wait to see what you do next.
