The Lady Wildcats began their 2025 postseason run with a dominating performance over Desert Heights Prep in the first round of the 1A state playoffs.
The Wildcats are the top overall seed in the tournament and as such, they played 16th-seeded Desert Heights Prep.
The game only went 3.5 innings. Joseph City started a little slowly with just 2 first-inning runs, but in the second, they exploded for 15 runs, then cruised to the win with 7 more runs in the third frame. Defensively, they held the Yotes to just 1 hit in the 23-0 win.
Joseph City will now host eighth-seeded Duncan on Tuesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. start time. Duncan took care of ninth-seeded Mogollon 13-7 in their first round win.
If the Wildcats advance past Duncan, they will see either No. 12 San Manuel or No. 13 Hayden in the semifinal round. That game would be played at Papago Softball Complex on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The 1A State Championship game will be played at Farrington Stadium on the campus of ASU beginning at 3 p.m.
With this win, the Wildcats improved their overall season record to 23-4.
