On March 10, the Winslow Bulldogs hosted the ALA-Foothills Guardians of Waddell for their home season opener. In the top of the first, the Guardians would score first on a Parker Schmidt RBI single. In the top of the second inning, the Guardians would again score on a Johnny Garcia RBI single.
In the bottom of the second, the Bulldogs would tie the game when Jace Smith would get on base with a double and then be brought home on Aiden Martinez RBI single. He would then get to second on a passed ball and go onto steal third and come home on an error.
In the top of the third Schmidt would score on an error. In the bottom of the inning Bulldog Brendan Knight would score on a Zack Sanchez single.
In the top of the fourth the Guardians would score 10 runs. In the top of the fifth the Guardians would score 1 more run for a final score of ALA-Foothills 14, Winslow 3.
Winslow used two pitchers Brendan Knight had 1 strikeout and Eli Farris.
On March 12, the Winslow Bulldogs would host the Odyssey Institute of Buckeye. In the top of the first the Minotaur’s would score 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, the Bulldogs would score 1 run when Ehren Leonard would get on base with a double and score on the RBI double by Zack Sanchez.
In the top of the second, the Minotaur’s would score 7 runs to extend their lead. In the bottom of the third, Brendan Knight would have a double score on a Martinez RBI single. Sanchez, who had gotten on base with a single following Brendan Knight, would score on an error.
In the top of the fourth, the Minotaur’s would score 2 runs. In the top of the fifth the Minotaur’s would score their final run in the game. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs would score the final run of the game when James Mendoza would be brought home by a Brody Knight RBI double for a final score of Odyssey 16, Winslow 4.
This coming week the Bulldogs will be at home this week March 18 facing the Show Low Cougars, and on March 20, the Alchesay Falcons, both start at 6 p.m. Then on March 22 Blue Ridge Yellowjackets at 1 p.m.
