The Lady Wildcats have started the softball season strong with five consecutive wins to open the 2025 season. Joseph City is the defending state champion from a year ago and early on they seem destined to retain that crown again this year.

They opened the season over the weekend at their own invitational. They took care of Ganado early Thursday morning with an 8-0 shutout. Later that afternoon they downed El Capitan/Fredonia 13-1.

Friday started with a 17-0 win over Many Farms. That was followed by a 14-3 win over Kingman early in the afternoon.

Saturday morning, they completed the five-game sweep with an 11-3 win over St. Johns.

The team will be off for spring break until they resume action on March 18, with a trip to St. Michael. The following day they travel to Window Rock.

The Ladies will be in the highly competitive Gracie Haught tournament hosted by Payson on March 21-22. That may be their first chance to be tested as they will be playing some larger schools. They are slated to play Payson, Tanque Verde, and Crismon to start tournament play.
