Wilfred Eugene Canada, 62, also known as “Big Wil”, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, left this world peacefully Feb. 28, 2025. Wilfred was born Aug. 1, 1962, in San Antonio, Tex.
Wilfred, affectionately known by many as a “gentle giant,” was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Nancy, with whom he shared 30 beautiful years of marriage. As a dedicated father and doting grandfather, Wilfred found immense joy in family camping and fishing trips, often renting cabins at the serene Lake of the Woods in Pinetop, where countless happy moments were enjoyed.
He was not only a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan but also a man whose presence was as commanding as it was comforting-many would say he looked as if he could have played for the team himself.
Wilfred’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved. He leaves behind his beloved spouse, Nancy; his cherished children; and his adored grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry his love and legacy with them.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the American Legion No. 37, located at 290 E. Iowa St., in Holbrook.
