Lady Wildcats continue their fight through the state finals. After their first-round loss in the Copper Tournament, the Lady Wildcats earned a bye in the first round of the 1A state tournament.

Their first state tournament bracket game came in the quarterfinal round on Friday where they easily dispatched No. 9 Salome, 33-16. While their offense wasn’t clicking their defense certainly got the job done.

That win advanced them to the semifinal round where their offense returned to normal with a 64-36 beat down of fourth seeded St. David.

In the championship game, they will meet up with No. 2-seeded Fort Thomas. Like Joseph City, Fort Thomas met little resistance on their way to the title game. A 38-point win over No. 7 Baboquivari, and a 13-point win over third-seeded Mogollon in their semifinal round puts these two in the title game.

The Wildcats hosted Fort Thomas in a regular season game back on the final day of January. That was a 23-point win for the Wildcats. This game will be on a neutral floor at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Joseph City enters this final game with an overall record of 29-5.
