At approximately 10:03 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, officers with the Show Low Police Department responded to a residence in the 1700 block of west Merrill in Show Low, following a report of a 13-month-old girl who had been shot. Officers and other emergency responders conducted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced deceased about one hour later at Summit Healthcare.
Officers and detectives have arrested Adam Montoya, 27, of Show Low, the child’s father, for child abuse and second-degree murder. He was booked into the Navajo County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
