On Jan. 28, the Winslow Bulldogs traveled to Show Low to take on the Cougars in a game that would stay close in the half, but the Bulldogs were looking for the season sweep and would turn on the gas in the second half.
In the first quarter both teams would keep it close with a defense game, keeping the scoring to a minimum with Bulldogs scoring 9 points to Show Lows 7 points.
In the second quarter both teams would trade baskets, but they would both be in double digits, with the Cougars edging out the Bulldogs 21 to 20, for a halftime score of Winslow 29, Show Low 28.
In the third quarter the Bulldogs would take command, outshooting the Cougars 21 to 10. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars would outscore the Bulldogs 13 to 10, making the final score Winslow 62, Show Low 51.
Winslow had two players in double figures led by Isaac David with 23 points and Jayden Curtis with 17 points. Winslow was six of eight from the line.
On Jan. 31, the Winslow Bulldogs hosted the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets of Lakeside. Prior to the game the senior members of the Winslow High Dance Line Shai Barton, Amanda Childers and Adysen Leonard, along with Bulldog varsity seniors Isaac David, Jaden Dixon, Joseph Lee, Daylen Nez, Izaak Panana, Jace Smith and their manager Holly Nelson were escorted onto the court by their families for the final home game of the regular season.
In a game that would not be decided until the final quarter, the Yellowjackets kept the Bulldogs on a short leash the first three quarters, but the Bulldogs would break free in the fourth for the victory, along with the season sweep.
In the first quarter the Yellowjackets would edge out the Bulldogs 15 to 14. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would edge out the Yellowjackets 10 to 7 for a 2-point lead, and a halftime score of Winslow 24, Blue Ridge 22.
In the third quarter, the Yellowjackets would outscore the Bulldogs 23 to 19 to take the two-point lead.
In the fourth quarter it would be a driven Bulldog team that would turn up the temperature, outshooting the Yellowjackets 22 to 10, for a final score Winslow 65, Blue Ridge 55.
Winslow had two players in double figures led by Isaac David with 26 points and Izaak Panana with 18 points, including four 3-point shots. Winslow was eight of nine from the line.
Winslow Bulldogs will travel to Whiteriver to face the Alchesay Falcons at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5, for the final game of the regular season.
