The Navajo County Board of Supervisors held a regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 28, during which the board honored Deanne Romo on her retirement from the county after over 43 years of service.

Prior to working as Clerk of the Court for nearly 14 years, Romo worked as a juvenile detention officer for 30 years. In a recap of her experience she noted, “I started my career with Navajo County as a young wife and mother who wanted to help provide for her family. I’m leaving Navajo County with my loving devoted husband of 45 years (Tommy Romo). This has been a journey that I will never forget.” She thanked her husband, family and staff for their support during her expansive career.

Former Navajo County recorder Mike Sample has been appointed by Governor Katie Hobbs to take over Romo’s position as Clerk of the Court the remainder of the term.
