Joseph City Unified School District was one of 10 Arizona schools awarded funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to purchase clean energy public school buses. The rebate amount of $345,000 allowed the district to add a new electric bus to its fleet.

Since the amount awarded did not cover the cost of the necessary charging infrastructure, Invenergy, owners of the Hashknife Solar Energy Center, located south of Joseph City, donated $12,000 to cover the cost.

“We are proud to support the Joseph City Unified School District with this donation. At Invenergy we aim to teach, inspire, train and attract the next generation of clean energy talent to ensure the next generation of workers represents a variety of backgrounds, skills and ideas. This all starts with our hometown schools like Joseph City School District. The transition to electric school buses is a sign of the district’s commitment to a cleaner future for its students, and that’s something we are honored to support,” stated Kelly Zagrzebski, the manager, local and community affairs representative for Invenergy.
