On Oct. 18, the Winslow Bulldogs traveled to Kingman to face the Bulldogs at their homecoming and senior night. Winslow would face a big and fast offense team and they would double team Winslow’s key play makers through most of the game but Winslow never gave up and would stay within striking distance but were unable to catch Kingman.
In the first quarter the only score would come at the halfway mark when Kingman’s Christian Collins would score on a three-yard run, followed by the point after by Raudel Vega. In the second quarter Kingman would score at the eight minute mark when Brayden Fuentes would score on a 20-yard run, followed by the point after. Winslow was determined not to let Kingman get too big a lead and with four minutes on the clock Winslow’s Michael Romero would score on an eight-yard touchdown run, followed by Caleb Duran’s point after. In the final seconds of the half Kingman’s Vega would kick a 30-yard field-goal to extend Kingman’s lead, making the halftime score Kingman 17, Winslow 7.
The third quarter would be a battle, with both teams trading downs and possessions with neither team able to get the ball in the end zone. In the fourth quarter it would be Winslow’s team showing a huge amount of grit throughout, starting with Joseph Guerrero intercepting a Kingman pass and then returning it 30 yards before being brought down. Winslow’s Gino Quinones would connect with Romero on a slant play that would go 28 yards for the score, followed by Duran’s point after. This would be the final score of the game. However Winslow’s Bryce Williams would recover a Kingman fumble at the four yard line thus preventing Kingman from scoring in the final minutes of the game for a final score of Kingman 17, Winslow 14.
Winslow had 46 yards passing and 73 yards rushing for a total of 119 yards.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, the Winslow Bulldogs will host the Page Sand Devils for their final home game this season on senior night.
