With fall breaks happening at Holbrook, Joseph City and Snowflake over the past two weeks, none of the three area cross-country teams competed last week. All three are gearing up for the Division III and IV sectional meet, which will be held at Page High School this coming Thursday.
For teams to qualify for the state meet, at either the Division III meet for Holbrook and Snowflake, or Division IV for Joseph City, they will have to finish inside the top 50% of scoring teams, with at least five runners at the sectional race. The top seven individual runners from non-qualifying teams will also qualify for the state meet.
There are 13 teams in the north section of Division III meaning both Holbrook and Snowflake will have to finish in at least the top seven as a team. Joseph City competes with 17 other teams in Division IV therefore, they will have to place among the top nine teams.
For those who qualify, the cross country state meet will be held on Nov. 2, at Cave Creek Golf Course.
