The new parking lot at the Winslow Public Library was under construction last week. The building, located at 523 W. 2nd St., will be over 10,000 square feet and feature a children’s library and area for education-related activities that parents and children may check out and use while at the library. The construction phase of the project is projected to be completed in November, with a phased opening after that.

Looking to learn some new recipes? The Winslow Public Library is hosting the Cook Book Club the second Monday of each month, with the next meeting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9, at the Winslow Girl Scout House, located at the corner of Loy Engelhardt Way and North Colorado Avenue. Stop by the Winslow library to select a recipe from the cookbook of the month. Make the recipe at home and bring the dish for a potluck-style meeting. At the gathering, discuss the ease of the recipe, whether ingredients were available, substitutions made, etc. Enjoy dishes made by other club members and bring a container for leftovers.

The library is also hosting Board Game Mania from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 30, Oct. 28, Nov. 25 and Dec. 30, at the Winslow Girls Scout House. Bring a game to teach others to play or simply come and enjoy a few hours of family-friendly games. For more information call 928-289-4982 or email library@winslow.gov.
