Winslow Mayor Roberta “Birdie” Cano has announced her support for Ruben Gallego’s bid for the U.S. Senate. Cano said, “I know that Ruben Gallego will fight for northern Arizona and rural communities like ours in the U.S. Senate, and that’s why I am proud to endorse him in this race. While others only divide us, Ruben has demonstrated a unique ability to bring people together to solve the problems facing everyday Arizonans, including wildfire mitigation, the high cost of living, water security and access to quality health care. I know that he will continue to work on these issues and more in the U.S. Senate.”
It is not common for a Winslow mayor to give official endorsements for these races, but endorsing a candidate and explaining for what reasons they support that candidate, could go a long way for showing voters Cano’s vision for the city if she were awarded another term.
Gallego expressed his gratitude for Cano’s endorsement. In a press release, Gallego emphasized their shared goals of improving housing affordability rural infrastructure and protections for underserved tribal communities.
