One collision was investigated by Holbrook police officers during the period of Dec. 13-19, according to dispatcher reports. At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, a three vehicle, non-injury collision occurred on State Route 77 and Bucket of Blood Street. The vehicles involved were a white 1994 Dodge truck driven by James Dirks, 55, of Holbrook, a silver 2020 Honda Pilot driven by Christine Yazzie, 40, of Navajo and a blue 2019 Ford Fusion driven by Olivia Smith, 40, of Indian Wells. According to the report, both Yazzie and Smith were traveling north on Highway 277 and had stopped at the railroad crossing while a train passed when Yazzie was struck from behind by Dirks, who in turn struck Smith. Dirks was cited and released for no current vehicle registration, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to avoid a collision.
