Holbrook added two more wins to their campaign this week, pushing their regular season mark to 11-4 and they remain unbeaten in regular season contests.

Holbrook opened the week with a 63-42 home-court win over Tuba City on Monday night. The team had just won the Round Valley tournament the weekend prior, playing six games over three days. Fatigue may have been a problem early on but a 24-point explosion in the second period gave the Birds a commanding 36-16 halftime lead. Another big third period put the game out of reach.

Tyler Tapaha continues to lead this team for Holbrook. He finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jaron Becenti added 10, with a pair of treys. Xavier Brown hit three triples for 9. Chase Salabye also netted 9, with one long-range shot. Anu Pittman netted 6, Manuel Rico added 4, as did Joquin Belin. Leyton Tom had 3, and Travis Bia scored 1. Holbrook made 4 of 8 free throws and connected on seven 3-point field goals.

Tuba City was led by Tyler Tsinnie, with 11 points. The Warriors made six of 15 charity tosses and connected on just two from behind the arc.

Playing in Page on Saturday, the Roadrunners started a little slow after the long bus ride but still led 13-10 after the first. In the second period, they found their legs. Holbrook netted 20 in the quarter, building a 33-18 halftime lead. They were outscored by two in the second half but the Sand Devils never really threatened in the 53-40 Holbrook win.

Tapaha drained 21 points. Leytom Tom added 13; Xavier Brown had 8; Jaron Becenti, 6; Chase Salabye, 4; and Rylan Bia helped with 1. Holbrook made six of nine free throws and hit seven treys in the win.

Page was led by Tyree Stingley’s 11-point effort. They hit seven of 11 from the line and made three treys.

Holbrook now has three weeks before they play again. They won’t return to the court until Jan. 6, when they host the top 3A team in the state when the Trojans from Valley Christian comes to town. Both teams should be unbeaten in regular season action when this game happens at Munoz Gym. Holbrook is 5-0 in regular-season contests.
