The 92nd Navajo County Fair recently swept through the community, leaving behind four days of electrifying entertainment, musical enchantment, and wholesome family enjoyment that’s united visitors from around the county for the anticipated event.
Kicking off the fair was the Demolition Derby, where roaring engines and crashing metal thrilled spectators, setting the tone for an action-packed weekend. It was a smashing success, leaving the crowd clamoring for more. Kids under ten also got to join in on the fun with the Power Wheels Derby where children had their own demolition derby with vehicles a little more their speed, which gave them the same fun as the adults without the risk of injury.
Each evening brought a fresh wave of musical delight as live performances took center stage, from Wednesday through Saturday. The diverse lineup catered to a wide range of musical tastes, ensuring there was something for everyone to dance to or sing along with.
Rodeo enthusiasts were treated to a heart-pounding showcase of cowboy courage and skill. The rodeo featured events like bareback riding and steer wrestling, with talented riders facing off against formidable opponents in the arena. It was a true testament to the enduring spirit of the Wild West. The children, this time aged four through 12, were not left out of this event either. The Little Buckaroo Rodeo allowed them to experience the thrill of rodeo competition in a safe and fun environment, fostering a love for the rodeo from a young age.
There was plenty of competition from raising livestock to a pie-eating contest. Meanwhile, the salsa contest turned up the heat as locals showcased their culinary talents, with savory and spicy creations vying for the title of best salsa.
The fair retained its classic charm, with numerous vendors offering handmade crafts, mouthwatering treats and an homage to the region’s rich agricultural heritage all of which has made the fair a success for nearly 100 years.
