The eighth-seeded Wildcats made it to the second round of the 1A state playoffs before their season came to a close at the hands of top-seeded Hayden on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph City hosted ninth seeded Desert Heights Prep on Saturday, April 29, and advanced with an 11-5 home-field win.
Thursday’s game at Hayden ended after five innings with the Lobos winning 12-2 in five innings. That loss put an end to the Wildcat’s season. Joseph City wrapped up its season with a solid 19-9 overall record.
Like softball, the 1A baseball playoffs semi-final round will be represented by the top four seeds. No. 1 Hayden faces No. 4 St. David, and No. 2 Williams will take on No. 3 Bagdad. The two winners will match up on Saturday to decide the 1A state championship.
