A Show Low man is under arrest after Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received numerous calls regarding a vehicle driving the wrong way and running other vehicles off the road on Silver Creek Drive in White Mountain Lake. The vehicle was located traveling at a high rate of speed in a residential area but when deputies attempted to stop the vehicle driven by William Allen Maxwell, 41, of Show Low he fled from law enforcement. Maxwell struck numerous mailboxes and trashcans before eventually running into a tree, where the impact disabled his vehicle. As deputies attempted to detain Maxwell, he became physically aggressive and a physical altercation occurred. Deputies were able to take Maxwell into custody and he was charged with unlawful flight from a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and two counts of resisting arrest. He was booked into the Navajo County Jail.
