The Wildcat wrestling team finished eighth at the Division IV Sectional Tournament held in Winslow on Saturday. Joseph City scored 53 team points, St. Johns won the meet with 201 followed by Page, Monument Valley, Holbrook and Ganado.
The Wildcats did have two individual sectional champions. Owen Beatty won the 175-pound weight class with a 2-0 record winning both matches by fall. Joseph Thomas, wrestling at 190, also took first place with a 3-0 record. Both of these wrestlers will advance to the Division IV state meet which gets underway on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
Those competing at sectionals but not advancing were; Cory McLaws (113) went 0-2, Independence Rodriguez (138) went 0-2 and Holh Hearn (150) went 1-2 in three matches. Roby Garcia (157) went 0-2, Arizona Heward (165) went 0-2, and Hayden Fischer (285) went 1-2 in three matches but did not place.
