On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Snyder Circle in White Mountain Lake for a report of a male subject who had been shot and was unresponsive. When law enforcement arrived on scene they located a deceased man identified as Andres C. Moreno, 70, of Show Low. Deputies were advised that the suspect had fled the scene in a white SUV. A short time later Joseph Correy Barton Jr., 29, of Show Low called the dispatch center stating he wanted to self-surrender and would meet law enforcement at the Speedway in Taylor. Deputies and officers from Snowflake-Taylor Police Department were on scene to contact Barton who was placed under arrest and charged with first degree murder.
