By Greg Perkins The Cats started last week with a pair of 10-run rule losses, but bounced back on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Mogollon. On Monday they were shut out in five innings at Williams. The Vikings allowed just three Wildcat batters to get hits. Colten Westover, Karter Lampsa and Jay Edwards each had just one hit in the loss. Avery Buckley took the loss on the hill where he allowed 10 runs on 11 hits, with a pair of walks and five strikeouts. Wednesday the Wildcats played host to Show Low and the Cougars took care of business in five winnings with a 19-5 win. Hosting Mogollon at noon on Saturday the Cats prevailed 4-1. (Stats were not available for the last two games as of press time). That win moved Joseph City’s overall record to 7-9. With just one final regular season game left on the docket, a road trip to Heber on Tuesday, Joseph City will have to wait and see where they will qualify for the post season bracket. Joseph City enters this week ranked 15th in the rankings but at the 1A level a committee will pick which teams make up the 16-team state tournament bracket. However, the top three teams in each region are guaranteed a spot in the post season. Joseph City will finish as one of the top three teams in the 1A North region and will automatically make the post season. The first round of the 1A state tournament will be played on Friday at Goodyear Ballpark. The second round will be on Saturday.
